Meet The Team

Dr. Kurt F. Smith Board Certified Audiologist/Owner

Dr. Kurt F. Smith was inspired to become an audiologist because of the difficulties he saw his own mother go through with hearing loss. He is a Board Certified Audiologist who has been helping people hear better for over 25 years.

Dr. Smith earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Wichita State University. He continued at Wichita State University, earning his Master of Arts degree in 1996. Not long after, Dr. Smith decided to continue his education, earning his Doctor of Audiology degree from the Arizona School of Health Sciences. “I saw how hearing loss affected my mom’s interaction with employees she managed. I saw how the stress mounted when one employee threatened her because of this unseen disability. Living with a person with hearing loss is difficult. Understanding hearing loss and how to cope with it is what got me interested in this profession.”

While working on his thesis, Gulf War Syndrome and the Auditory Brainstem Response: A Pilot Study, Dr. Smith also held an externship at the VA Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. Shortly thereafter, he went on to practice in West Palm Beach, FL, then returned to Colorado Springs, Colorado to practice audiology due to his wife’s parent’s health issues. After nine years in private practice in Colorado Springs, Dr. Smith went on to open his own private practice in June of 2010 to better serve patients with hearing loss.

Prior to his current career as an audiologist, Dr. Smith served honorably in the United States Air Force. Dr. Smith was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Smith and his wife, Carol, have three sons and three grandsons.

Dr. Smith enjoys collecting sports memorabilia. He especially enjoys collectibles from the old American Football League (1960-1969). He also likes visiting warm places and taking long walks.

Dr. Kurt F. Smith is a member of the following organizations:

She earned the Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association in 1985 after successfully completing her Master’s program, 9-month internship, and passing the national certification examination. Lee Ann interned and worked at the New York League for the Hard of Hearing – our nation’s oldest out-of-hospital non-profit hearing and speech facility for a year and a half before returning to Colorado Springs, where she has been the full-time audiologist at the Center for Hearing, Speech and Language, (which later became the Marion Downs Center), Colorado’s oldest non-profit speech and hearing agency, from 1985-2015. Lee Ann joined Peak View Audiology & Hearing Care in February 2015, where she can continue to provide her excellent audiology services and patient care.

Lee Ann enjoys the 7 Cs…Colorado, crock-pot cooking, chocolate, crocheting, cinnamon/raisin/pecan rolls, cardio workouts, caramels, crafts, clementines, card games and cookies – oops that’s a lot more than 7. I hope to expand my interests beyond the Cs at some point. My newest hobby is metal detecting – the TV show “Diggers” got me hooked. So far I have found lots of old rusted railroad ties near my home and random HOI (Hunks Of Iron) and I’m on my way to financial freedom with a total of 47 cents.
